Seattle Cascades Welcome Joey Riordan as 2023 Brass Caption Manager

The Seattle Cascades is excited to announce Joey Riordan as the Seattle Cascades Brass Caption Manager.

According to Ray Severns, Seattle Cascades Corps Director: "Joey Riordan is a proud alumnus of the Seattle Cascades and an excellent local band director committed to seeing Drum Corps in the Northwest thrive. I believe Joey's spirit and dedication will continue to bring the Cascades forward and I am thrilled to be able have quality staff from the past rejoin the team as we build toward the future. I think Joey is a great addition to the team and am excited to hear the horn line under his directions!"

Joey Riordan grew up in Richland Washington where he attended Hanford High School. While in high school he fell in love with the marching arts. In 2006 he joined the Seattle Cascades as a member of the horn line. He has also been a member of the Boston Crusaders, Madison Scouts, and Minnesota Brass. After aging out Joey joined the Seattle Cascades as a visual and music instructor for the 2012 season. He served as a brass instructor for the 2012 through 2017 seasons, Assistant Caption Supervisor in 2018, and Caption Supervisor in 2019. In 2022 he returned as an instructor.

Outside of drum corps, Joey also participated in various music ensembles while attending Central Washington University and Washington State University. Joey currently works as a special education teacher in Richland Washington and with the Kamiakin High School Marching Band. He is currently perusing his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Eastern Washington University.

Joey is very passionate about the marching arts in the Pacific Northwest and is excited to be leading the Seattle Cascades horn line as the corps fields again.

Each season the Seattle Cascades provide youth with exceptional educational and life-enhancing experiences in the performing arts.
