Imagine The Future And Be The Change

The Seattle Cascades was founded on and lives by a set of shared values that focus on inclusiveness, diversity, selflessness and a strong belief in family and community. Make no mistake: we cherish all members of the Seattle Cascades family, past, present, and future. But now, more than ever we believe that unless we are prepared to have open and accepting discussions about the impact of stereotypes and how they affect decisions that are made within our organization, we will not make progress toward eradicating racism.

It is not enough to desire change without the active pursuit of opportunities to advance change. Because of this we are taking exciting and important steps to reimagine our future both within the Seattle Cascades and Northwest Youth Music Association. The Board has empowered and challenged the administrative team to fully embrace diversity and spotlight racial bias at all levels of our organization. In addition, we are reviewing policies and practices with a new eye to ensure that we are fostering an environment that is welcoming and inclusive to everyone. Finally, we are pursuing leadership development and training opportunities for our staff and membership to create platforms for change.

And we won’t stop here. The Seattle Cascades and the Northwest Youth Music Association are proud to be part of this historic time in our world and commit ourselves to IMAGINE THE FUTURE AND BE THE CHANGE.
