What We're Looking for at Auditions


Auditions give the staff a persepctive of your music, marching, movement, and equipment skills.​ We will also be looking at several other factors, including:

  • Positive attitude

  • Great work ethic

  • Commitment to effort

  • Ability to process instruction and apply it to exercises

  • Ability to handle constructive criticism in a positive manner

  • Interaction with other members

  • Interview with your caption supervisor

  • Ability to attend all camps and move into Spring Training (some flexibility is allowed due to school commitments)

What is Needed for Audition/Experience Camps​

  • Bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • All musicians should have a three ring binder and a pencil

  • Change of clothes for the weekend. Plan to dress in layers. It will be warm in the gym and cold outside

  • Comfortable marching shoes

  • Sleeping bag and pillow

  • Showering supplies and toiletries

  • Your own instrument if possible (brass)

  • Housing and food are all provided

  • Attendance at all experience camps is mandatory unless you have a previously-approved school conflict

What are the Financial Responsibilities?


The 2026 member tuition is $5,000.00. Paid in 6 installments approximately $850 each, January-June. Member fees must be paid in full before Spring Training move-ins.

There are many opportunities to fundraise for your tuition!

  • Recruiting Commission is a tuition break for members and the new member that they recruited

  • Recruiting Booth at NW events is a way for returning members & parents to earn tuition credit.

  • DCI Championship Raffle Tickets can be sold 

  • Write Sponsorship Letters to your community asking for support

  • Event Program Ad Sales to sell ads for our multiple Northwest Youth Music Games digital programs

  • DCI Scholarships are available until March of each season

  • Cascades Scholarships are made available in the spring based on need and commitment

What Happens if I am Offered a Contract?


If you have been offered a position with the Cascades you must take care of your paperwork and membership payments confirming your acceptance of your contract offer immediately. 

Our 2026 educational program is structured around a series of virtual assignments, physical conditioning and monthly in-person rehearsals, followed by an extended spring training camp and a full national tour. 

NOTE: Percussion and Colorguard members may be required to submit video assignments during the winter months that they are not attending camps.
