COVID-19 Update from the Seattle Cascades
In the midst of our attempts to adjust to our new way of life in following recommended CDC guidelines, The Northwest Youth Music Association, and Seattle Cascades, in conjunction with Drum Corps International will be altering our rehearsal schedule for March and April, our summer competitive touring model could be altered as well. It is the strong belief of the Northwest Youth Music Association, in conjunction with Drum Corps International, the health and safety of the membership is first and foremost.
To date, all DCI Corps have cancelled their in-person weekend rehearsal camps for the balance of March and the month of April, adhering to current guidance (President’s Guidelines 0316) regarding non-essential travel and avoiding social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people from the Centers For Disease Control (CDC), the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the White House. Corps will continue to respond accordingly as the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.
Working closely with member Corps, Drum Corps International has shifted its focus to a revision and compression of the competitive touring model for the 2020 season.
What will this mean for all those who support the Seattle Cascades and the Drum Corps activity in the Pacific Northwest? Due to a potential tour revision, this could mean the Seattle Summer Music Games will be in hiatus for 2020, but would return for the 2021 season. Those who wish to view and support the hard-working members of the 2020 Seattle Cascades in this competitive environment will be able to do so in a number of vast ways throughout the season. Alumni and supporters, this is the time “YOUR” corps will need you the most! In the near future, we will have many different options on how “YOU” can donate to the Cascades!
The Northwest Youth Music Association will soon announce a “Friends & Family” day for all those in the Pacific Northwest who wish to attend to support the hard working students of the Seattle Cascades and the Drum Corps activity. This will also be a time for all alumni to come out to support the “206” family, as we will now more than ever need your support.
Despite all these hardships and unknowns, we still are moving forward and are excited about what's to come for the 2020 Seattle Cascades production!
