exciting season debut
As "All Days" comes to a close, now the real fun begins. The members have worked so hard to get to this point and the real reward for them is performing like rock stars for the fans. Last night in Hillsboro, Oregon the Cascades revealed their new look and powerful style.
The new uniforms certainly pop with color while maintaining the soul of the Cascades' look. Most notable and discussed are the lime green plumes which was well-received and a great surprise.
The corps' average age took a serious jump up this year with more than half the corps being of college age. You certainly can tell the members are more mature by the difficulty and quality of what they are producing: Articulate musical passages while running through boxes, risky listening situations, intricate long guard phrases, plenty of monster weapon tosses and great percussion effect moments. Conceptually the show is a modern take on a historical tale and the initial direction of the theme was quite impressive.
After their first performance, the new members received their well-earned corps jackets and everyone got to mingle with family and friends for the first time in a couple of weeks. Lots of hugs and a few tears as "All Days" end - becomes a national tour's beginning.
