auditions throughout the northwest

Five successful satellite audition clinics were held throughout the Northwest. Approximately 150 potential members were seen during the five events.

The talent is mature and strong as this year marks a huge turning point for the Cascades membership. A large portion of our veteran members have now entered college and the maturity can clearly be seen as approximately 70% of the new membership candidates are of college age.

This year's audition process included the brass candidates learning and playing large portions of the opening musical production. It was exciting to get a sneak preview of what 'Pain', the opener for the 2011 Cascades' production of 'Pandora-A Dark Gift, sounds like in small ensembles. It definitely built a sense of excitement and anticipation for the December camp and a full brass line in one place.

The best surprise of the audition season was the talent coming from the Tri-Cities, Washington area and the consistent membership from Boise, Idaho. Consistency and the quality of experience for the last two seasons is paying off with a stronger member performing with the Cascades for 2011. Staying the course and it will grow and mature into the future.
