memorial camp report

Memorial Camp showed the corps' strength and camaraderie. The stronger maturity level of this year's members was very evident to the staff as the corps went back to the beginning of the show and added a ton of movement to enhance the visual program. The members handled it with ease, coming off the field like pros, dripping with sweat and enjoying their hard work. The colorguard filled in every inch of choreography for the opening number, Cloudsplitter Fanfare, making the opening piece quite powerful and exciting. Just to say it one more time, the new brass instruments are stunning! The entire weekend was clearly the start of the drum corps season for Cascades.

On Monday, the corps prepared for its' first performance of the season. After a great BBQ, the parents and supporters had a pre-tour meeting helping define the summer and process. Supporters continued to work incredibly hard sewing flags, hemming uniforms and relentlessly refurbishing the equipment truck to accommodate the new instruments. The support this winter has been outstanding, the best in memory and the adult camaraderie has made it all the more enjoyable. To close out the camp, the corps was to perform outside, but, a storm rolled in (no surprise there) and the corps moved inside to perform over 20 minutes of music for the supporters and fans.

The next rehearsal, All Day Move-ins, June 18th

There are positions available for Trumpet, Baritone, Tuba, Colorguard & Piano. If you are interested in participating this summer, please sign up online and a staff member will contact you to help you get started.
