seattle marching band Xperience
The first gig of the season, The Xperience Marching Band Clinic in Seattle at the Husky Stadium was full of great surprises. With over 100 people participating and viewing, the Cascades put on quite the show, starting with a breakout into sections where students got to experience the music and choreography first hand. Local percussion students put on instruments and got in the line, playing exercises with the Cascades Drumline, their excitement was beyond words.
Special guest, Rich Wetzel from King Brass, spent time with the winds explaining the finer points of music quality. Speaking about how the individual controls air and fresh ideas about articulations that opened the students' eyes on how to be better players.
The corps then took over the field with Visual and Ensemble demonstrations, explaining how discipline and structure help save time and make rehearsing as efficient as possible. An exciting surprise was the energetic performance by Soundwave, the official band of the Seattle Sounders. At the end of the clinic, the Cascades performed their entire 2010 production Silver Lining to an enthusiastic ovation.
The next Xperience Marching Band Clinic will be held in Portland at the Hillsboro Stadium: July 3rd, 2010 - 3pm.
