2010 season finish

As another season closes, we must reflect on the great accomplishments of the year. Replacing the older instruments was a huge priority and most notable was the purchasing of new King Ultimate Marching Brass. We also purchased a new Pearl battery and Adams vibraphones. Having a second set of all musical instruments, opens up new opportunities for starting a cadet corps.

After 10 years, the Cascades updated the corps jackets. These new jackets are black and green with silver piping, the inside is lined to help keep the fall and winter months a bit warmer. Of course the traditional logo is embroidered on the back. The 2010 members received their new jackets in Indianapolis at the awards banquet.

The average age increased by almost 2 years, so the maturity of the performers took a huge leap this season. It is very important to retain members and continue their growth. With seasoned veterans in the corps, the processes, training and performances just get better and better.

Audiences across the country took note of our growth, responding to how solid the product was. The internet was alive with great compliments about how stable the production was and how strong the performers were. The Cascades have taken another huge step and can legitimately say, "We're Back." The last performances of the season were the best by far. The members and staff worked extremely hard to beef up the end of the show and win over the crowd. With standing ovations, the corps knew their year was a huge success. Congratulations to the 2010 Age-Outs, thank you for sharing your talents and best wishes as you take your life experiences from Cascades into your future.

We honor the year with our Awards Banquet during the DCI weekend. Many excellent individuals were awarded for their outstanding achievements along with celebrating the season. A new tradition for us is the Cascades Olympics. Teams and individuals compete in fun contests like pie eating, tug of war and three legged race just to name a few. A great way to unwind, eat yummy barbeque and just relax with each other during our last few days together and of course, gossiping about the excitement of 2011.
